Choices

Actually, students in China have a choice for their college entrance exam, as for students for science which include physics, chemistry, biology and students for liberal arts which include history, geography and politics. Students have to choice what they want to study on second year of senior high school, it will affect their major in college because they need to choose the major when applying for a college. If your scores are good enough, you will be accept by the major you have choose for the college, but if your scores are not good enough, the college have possibility to let you into other majors which you couldn't choose, otherwise, you will not be accepted by the college.
Normally, you have to think carefully when you choose which way you want to go with in high school, science or liberal arts. Besides that, Chinese college entrance exam include Chinese, Math, which are known globally for its hard and strict, English, and Science synthesis or Liberal arts synthesis.
For each province, they have a totally different education system and the tests questions are different either. As for Beijing, we use the National volume 1, and students have to choose the school before they took the exam. This is the other challenge we need to face. We don't know how well or how bad we gonna do during the test. If you applying for the school that you think you are good enough to get into, but you are too nervous during the test and failed on the test, then you are failed. You may not have school to accept you, and it depends on your second college choice. College has two round for accepting students, if the school don't have enough students during the first round, which is accepting the students who choose the school for their first choice and also meet their required scores, the school are going to have the second round for accepting the students who choose the school for their second choice and not being accepted by their first choice school.
Students not only have to face the extremely stressful on the tests, but also have to face the stress to choose the right school.
I was born and raised in Beijing, surrounding by lots of best college in China. I always face another stressful thing that students from other province will judge students in Beijing that they get a better chance to get into better school, because they think college in Beijing will accept them by a lower scores than other province, WHICH IS NOT!
We all have a different education system and we take the different tests on the college entrance exams, the full scores are different, so you can't say, students in Beijing got a 600 out of 700, and students in other province got a 680 out of 800, the students in other province should have accepted by the college in Beijing because they have a better scores.

surveymonkey's survey

Here is the questions i posted on the survey and my responses.

1.Do you know that Chinese education system is different from American's?
For the first normal question, i believe everyone would heard a little bit from Chinese education system, but to be surprised, there's still one person who don't know that Chinese education system is different from American's. I would probably believe that he or she is just not interested in this topic.

2.Have you heard about "Gao Kao"?
Seems like this is just a inappropriate questions because Gao Kao is just the college entrance exam's name in Chinese. I mentioned in this survey because i saw New York Times mentioned this term in their article.

3. What do you know about Chinese education system?
I got some important information from those people who knows a little about Chinese education system. Most of them know that Chinese education and exams are harder and more strict.Americans really know Asians includes Chinese people are good at math and that's because Chinese education systems has a higher level of math since primary school. I would not say that but seems like some of american's college students only have a math level that's equal to Chinese primary or middle high school level.

4.Have you take SAT, SAT 2, ACT before?
As for american, the college entrance are SAT, SAT 2 and ACT, but these are not only the options if you want to get into the college. Most of the people responded to this survey has not attend any of them before, and some of them only took SAT before. So, i would say, SAT is the biggest college entrance exam in America.

5.If you can take only once on college entrance exam, what would you think?
Most of Americans thought this is really unfair. That's also my opinion, if they start to know more about Chinese education system includes the college entrance exam system, they would really think this is unfair and will cause more pressures.

6.If you can only get into a better college by having a higher score on the SAT, what would you think?
Because Chinese college entrance exam only depends on the score you have got on that test, i really want to know what will american's people think if the college only depends on the SAT score.

7.Do you think a better college would help you get into a better company or make more money in the future?
71% of people think this is true, and this is really true for Chinese situations. Parents believe their children would get into a better company only if they are in a better college. You have a better chance to be hired by a company only if you have a better college's diplomas.

8.Are your parents depends all their hopes on you and want you get into a better college?
For Chinese parents, they bet it all on their children to get into a better college which make students more stressful. This is the biggest difference from China and America. American's parents really let their children chose what they want and respect their choice.

9.What would you think if college in China only depends on your college entrance exam's score?
To collect Americans opinion. I really want to know how they think about the unfair system in China. They think people should have more freedom and choose what they really want, but this is the most insolvable questions in China. Students don't have a choice and their freedom. High schools even have militarized management to control their students to make sure they will have a better score on the college entrance exam. The schools ask students to get up at 5:30am, militarized running morning exercise at 5:48am, morning self study at 6:20am, breakfast at 7:00am. Classes begin at 7:30am...
and that is really crazy and insane!
This is just all for the students to get a better score on the test.

10.Are you interested in this topic?
Most people fell so-so about this topic. I believe they will be really shocked and interested in this if i mentioned some of the crazy things like the militarized control.
